Our Holistic Practitioners

Stuart Brown

I have been fortunate enough to be trained in Hypnotherapy, EFT and NLP by some incredible people.

I have recently had the pleasure of helping the Chris Evans Breakfast Show team, specifically Vassos Alexander, to overcome his extreme snake phobia.

In addition to this I helped Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills to overcome his crippling fear of heights to complete his abseil for Children in Need in 2015.

I began to study through my work with a charity supporting families of the Emergency services. This has progressed to allow me the opportunity to help a great many people in dealing with issues that have had an effect on their life.

Through my experiences working within a high pressure and critical role in one of the emergency services I have seen and dealt with the best and worst of human emotion.

This experience has given me a unique set of skills which allow me to deal with issues from a different perspective. Nothing you tell me can shock me or prevent me from wanting to help you.

Confidentiality is absolutely paramount with all of my clients.

Lorraine Carter

My name is Lorraine Carter, I am a clinical reflexologist, I studied here in Lincoln at the Anahata School of Reflexology, were I successfully completed the Centralia Mastership in Reflexology.

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists, and the Federation of Holistic Therapists.

Before coming to practice at Central Wellness, I had my own treatment rooms on Burton Road, Lincoln.  Though, I realised, as a clinical reflexologist, it is very important for my clients, with walking disabilities, to be able to get to me with ease, my treatment rooms were up a steep flight of narrow stairs, so I knew it was time to move to another more accessible location.

I have a background in health and wellness, working as a manager of a large health food shop and practitioners centre, in Helston in Cornwall, I have also worked for Holland and Barrett, so I have training in supplements.

Reflexology has been practised for thousands of years, though not under that name, there are images from ancient Egypt, of people working on each others feet.  It's highly relaxing and gives the body a chance to let go and release tensions and stress.
Wonderful in aiding sleep and calmness, reflexology  can help the body deal with a great number of health issues, such as; anxiety, tension, difficulties sleeping, head aches, and digestive problems,  to mention a few.

Reflexology is the working of the feet, and sometimes the hands, every area of the foot, represents an organ or limb of the body.  The connection between the feet and the said organ, is made by the meridians in our body; these act line train lines, connecting every part of the body with the feet.  Reflexology encourages the body and its system to repair and renew, whilst the client experiences a deep state of relaxation.

I also offer Reiki, which is an energy therapy, working with your chakras and energy meridians.

A full reflexology session including a consultation on your first visit: £35
Block booking of five sessions: £160
Reiki: £25

It can sometimes be difficult to know whether or not counselling is right for you, but chances are that if you have found yourself coming here because of feelings such as sadness, confusion, lack of direction or a general low mood, counselling may be able to offer some relief and a new perspective.

Some people worry that their concerns aren’t important or big enough to justify counselling, but I believe that any emotional suffering or concern that troubles you is enough of a reason to seek out help. Everyone deserves to have their voice truly heard so they can begin to feel better within themselves.

I offer a one to one counselling service which offers clients the opportunity to explore their personal circumstances in a safe and non-judgemental space. During our time together we will move at your pace to explore your feelings and find ways of moving forward. We want your sessions to leave you feeling empowered and confident to live life in the way that feels right for you.

I am always guided by the needs of my clients and look to tailor my approach to suit the individual I’m working with. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact me to arrange your free, no-obligation assessment.

I hold a Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Counselling and have worked for various companies such as Lincoln Grief and Loss Centre, The Lincoln Trauma Centre and CASY. I am also a member of the BACP and I abide by their ethics and practises.

Karen Colgan

I’m a qualified clinical hypnotherapist, counsellor and nurse. I had been curious for many years about hypnotherapy and so enrolled on a certificate course with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) back in 2010. I immediately became hooked and then went on to train further, completing a post graduate certificate with the LCCH in partnership with the University of West London in 2014. I am fully insured and am a member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis. I have spent much of my career to date supporting adults and young people with complex needs in health care settings. I have recently made the decision to devote more of my time to my hypnosis practice and am excited about offering sessions at Central Wellness.

Hypnosis can help you make positive and lasting change in your life. Hypnosis can be described as a state of focussed concentration, you will not be asleep but in fact may hear all or most of what the therapist is saying. We often experience this state of focused concentration when doing daily activities such as walking, reading a book or driving a familiar route.  During the hypnotic state the therapist will be able to access the subconscious mind and offer helpful and positive suggestions without the constant rational processing of our conscious mind, this allows therapeutic change to take place at the subconscious level.  This is important, as it is this part of our mind that controls all our behaviours outside of our immediate conscious awareness.

I will tailor your session to meet your individual needs and treatment will only commence once a detailed history has been taken. We will agree on goals for therapy before commencing and there may be an expectation on you to complete some homework tasks. Self-hypnosis will be taught so that you can take control of maintaining lasting change.

Hypnosis can be used to help alleviate many conditions, phobias and unwanted habits or to increase sports performance, relaxation and self-esteem. Please feel free to contact me to discuss your requirements and book a free consultation.

Naturopathic Nutritionist

I decided to become a pharmacist as I wanted to help people to get better.

After more than 10 years of work in the community pharmacy I sadly realised that conventional medicine is focused mostly on managing symptoms. The true root cause of the ill health is quite often left uncovered and patients continue to take medications for years or a lifetime.

I am not against medications as they can save lives (especially in acute conditions, emergency cases and life threatening bacterial infections). But I also believe in body's great capacities to heal itself. Good nutrition, exercise, sunlight, sleep and stress management are the best doctors of all!

I have experienced the power of naturopathic approach myself. After years of constant digestive problems, skin issues and tiredness I have resolved it all by changing my diet and working on relaxation.

My unique approach combines modern medical knowledge with traditional naturopathic wisdom, trying to find the bridge between the two.

My special interests are hormonal health (menopause, PMS, thyroid issues, PCOS); weight management; asthma, eczema and allergies; fatigue; autoimmune conditions; diabetes; digestive problems and arthritis.

I offer 1:1 consultations, packages and workshops and I provide personalised services to individuals with wide range of health concerns. An initial consultation takes 60 min, where I establish your goals and undergo an in depth assessment of your medical history, systems of the body, current nutrition, lifestyle, medications and supplements.

Justin Iles, MBACP Integrative Counsellor

DSC_2928 2.jpg

For me, counselling is about offering a safe and warm place for you to come and share the more difficult aspects of your life that perhaps you are unable to share with others. Sometimes difficult emotions or memories can seem just too big to cope with by yourself and the act of talking them through with someone else can make all the difference and create a bit more breathing space.

Throughout my clinical experience I have adopted various psychological tools such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and clinical mindfulness (MBCT). Some people find these tools extremely valuable in helping them break free from old habits and live with more openness and peace. It may be that right now you just need someone to listen without judgement or advice.

Human suffering comes in many forms; reasons for someone to come for counselling may include: depression, loneliness, anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, bereavement, relationship difficulties (including our relationship with food), addiction, self-injury and suicidal thoughts. I have undergone specialist training in working with trauma and have helped people with experiences such as childhood abuse, bullying and terrorist bombings – trauma can have such a debilitating effect on us and can prevent us from living full and meaningful lives. No matter the cause of the trauma, it affects the brain in a similar way and relief generally comes through moving the traumatic memory into normal long term memory. By actively working through the trauma, a new possibility of the future unfolds. As the Desiderata wisely says: "With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be brave, strive to be happy."

Malligarani Rangarajan (Rani)

Rani.jpg

After finishing her University study as a basic western Medical Doctor and as an ophthalmologist, Rani worked for 15 years in India. Observing her father’s success with acupuncture and having personally experienced relief with acupuncture, Rani was inspired to study this alternate system of medicine. She pursued studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the Shenzhou University in Amsterdam and completed it in 2010 with Honours (Cum Laude).

While clinically treating a number of cases, Rani kept herself academically updated through many training programmes in Netherlands and India for 7 years. Having had the opportunity to meet and train under the great master Dr. Tan himself in 2014, she started the journey of treating “PAIN” with the Distal Needling Acupuncture. She continued her training in Dr. Tan’s Balance method and attended many seminars conducted in Europe and exclusively practiced distal needling with very successful results in Netherlands till 2017.

This method gives instant relief of painful conditions and is also good for functional disorders.
Some of the conditions treated are:

  • Neck Pain

  • Shoulder pain and Frozen shoulder

  • Back pain and sciatica

  • Migraine with or without Hormonal involvement

  • Menopause and perimenopause symptoms

Sarah Rollitt

My journey in complementary therapies began in 2010 when I was diagnosed with both fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. During my recovery, I experienced several different types of therapies before realising that I wanted to use these techniques to help others. I take a holistic approach to my treatments, as I strongly believe that the mind, body and spirit are all interconnected. We are all unique individuals, so whichever therapy you choose will be individually tailored to your own needs.

The therapies I currently offer are massage and reiki. Massage can benefit all the physical body systems, especially the musculoskeletal, circulatory, lymphatic, immune and nervous systems. As well as physical benefits, it also provides mental and psychological benefits. Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by "laying on hands" and is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using spiritually guided life force energy.

As well as holistic massage, I also offer deeper, sports massage treatments. I have now achieved the ITEC Level 3 Sports Massage qualification which I studied at St Mary’s University in Twickenham, London. Sports massage involves managing the soft tissues of the body by hands on treatment and it keeps muscles supple and free from tension, knots and adhesions. Most injuries are as a result of lifestyle, rather than sport, so whether you are involved in sports or not, regular sports massage treatments can alleviate pain and keep your muscles, tendons and ligaments in really good shape.

Prices:

Initial consultation and treatment (1 hour) - £35.00
Sports Massage (1 hour) - £35.00
Massage (1 hour) - £30.00
Reiki (1 hour) - £30.00
