Pranayama and breathwork: techniques and practices.
In this workshop, you will learn how your breath mechanics can help to elevate your yoga practice (and your life!) to another level. Understand how breath and posture work together and take that practical skill to add a meditative space to your day.
By the end of the session we will have learnt some simple pranayama techniques to both complement your yoga practice and use in every day life.
Pranayama is a classical yoga practice that becomes essential to the inward journey. Breath is essential to life and can affect our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Learning to channel your awareness through the breath (pranayama) is an important practice in yoga. It can be a valuable tool in helping to restore balance in the mind and body.
Medical research is increasingly recognising the many beneficial effects of regular pranayama practice, including helping to reduce the stress response in the body and regulate nervous system activity.
This workshop is suitable for all, from complete beginners, to those who wish to add depth to their practice.
The session will be mostly practical and includes some yoga philosophy as well as time for questions and discussion.
“For breath is life, and if you breathe well you will live long on earth.” ~Sanskrit proverb
