with Guest Teacher Adam Hocke
We are delighted to welcome Adam Hocke, a long-time teacher of vinyasa flow and restorative yoga at triyoga London, and senior student and assistant to Jason Crandell, to Central Wellness for two special workshops.
Can everyone benefit from inversions, such as handstand and forearmstand, or are they just showing off?
And where do you begin with complicated arm balances, such as crow and side plank variations, that make strong demands on strength and flexibility?
We will explore the effects inversions have on your nervous system and find your unique path to getting up, staying up, and getting down in one piece.
We will begin with customised preparations based on your combination of physical and mental barriers and learn to get up with the wall, with a partner, and with nothing but air around you.
You might wish to explore some inversion variations once you are airborne, or we will explore building blocks into the postures and alternatives that yield the same benefits.
Learn how to see shapes in all orientations to gravity and re-imagine how arm balances might look in your body. Beginning with the core and working outward through hip flexibility and shoulder strength, we will embrace together the challenge and joy that these postures provide.
Adam enjoys teaching new groups of students and opening them up to different approaches to postures, flow and contextualising practice, to physically awaken and renew the body and mind.
His writing has appeared at Huffington Post and in Om Yoga Magazine. He also teaches streaming classes on Movement for Modern Life.
Adam will also be teaching an afternoon workshop – What is Savasana - how to practise for rest and renewal.
