This course aims to assist young people in taking better care of themselves and in getting the most out of living. The majority of people completing the programme report lasting physical and psychological benefits including:
- an increased ability to relax
- greater energy and enthusiasm for life
- heightened self-confidence
- an increased ability to cope more effectively with short and long term stressful situations.
The aim of the programme is to learn new ways to handle challenging physical sensations, feelings, moods or social interactions. Mindfulness exercises have been found to be helpful for many health conditions. By observing difficult sensations without judgement of good or bad we find ourselves becoming more accepting of our current condition. This creates space and an easing of the tension we have built up.
Specific difficulties that participants have reported finding some ease from include:
- Anxiety and panic
- Sleep disturbance
- Exam stress
- Chronic pain
- Skin disorders
