This beautiful cacao ceremony follows the full moon on the 23 November so we will still be basking in its strong energy.
At this time of year we naturally start to pull back from the outside world. The activity of the Summer is over, we have released the old energies through the Autumn and we now start to move into Winter.
We will drink the magical elixir of cacao and honour the part of us that wishes to rest and recuperate. We will journey, meditate and rest, to help silence the mind and listen to our inner hermit, receiving guidance and wisdom.
Cacao is a gentle, yet powerful plant spirit medicine. It was known as the food of the Gods by the Meso-Americans and was used medicinally by the ancient Mayans.
The science of cacao contains a powerhouse of antioxidants. It aids cardiovascular health and lowers blood pressure. It triggers the release of dopamine and endorphins in the brain which soothes depression, pre-menstrual symptoms and emotional stress. The increase in blood flow to the brain increases focus and mental agility. Cacao contains Anandamide which is the bliss molecule. Consumption increases pleasure and motivation and gives a “natural high”.
On the ceremony day, please eat light meals and avoid food two hours before drinking cacao. We recommend that you avoid animal products, caffeine and alcohol on the day and, if possible, also aim to avoid these products the day before and after.
