A ten week course exploring and developing love, compassion, joy and equanimity through meditation

with Justin Iles

23 September - 21 October and 4 November - 2 December
Sundays 4:30pm-6:30pm
£140 for sessions, materials & personal support

Traditionally there are said to be two wings of awareness: heart and mind. Initially, the divine abodes expand the heart in four directions but over time they unite to form one way of connecting with ourselves and the world around us that is more open, loving and accepting of the way things are. For example, when the heart encounters suffering; compassion arises, when it encounters the success of others; joy arises. Through these meditations, shadow energies such as fear and jealousy gradually decrease along with the turbulence they cause in the mind. This can lead to a sense of openness, peace and contentment.

This course is open to people of all levels of experience but may be particularly useful for those who have completed a mindfulness course and would like to take their meditation practice further (minimum age, 14).

Meditation teacher and counsellor Justin Iles began practicing meditation in Beijing in 2008. Under the guidance of his teacher, Zen Master Wei, his time in China included many hours on the mat in secluded monasteries; but he also spent many hours with his teacher appreciating nature and supporting the sick on cancer wards.

Justin has practiced Vipassana meditation and the divine abodes meditations intensively at Panditarama, Lumbini, under the guidance of Sayadaw U Vivekananda and Sayalay Baddhamanika; returning there for up to 9 months at a time.  Meditation has now become an integral part of his life and every year he makes time for a quiet personal retreat.

Justin is interested in how clinical mindfulness and Psychotherapy can be integrated with traditional meditation techniques. He trained as a mindfulness teacher at Bangor University and is a qualified Psychotherapist.
