We are excited to be hosting Base Acro at Central Wellness once again. This 2.5 hour workshop will take you through some of the most well known inversions: headstands, handstands and forearm stands.
No previous inversion experience is necessary, only a desire to be upside down and a willingness to learn - with consistent and steady practice comes a deeper understanding and confidence in being upside down.
We will start with breaking down the technique required for a stable headstand, building up to developing a free-standing handstand without the support of the wall.
A handstand practice takes years to perfect - but this workshop is a great way for you to make that start or refine your existing skills. This workshop will equip you with the foundations and technical knowledge required to start an effective and informed handstand practice which you can then use at home or in class.
This workshop is open to those of all abilities, from those looking to find their first headstand to those looking to lengthen their free-standing handstand hold.
All the tools and techniques are progressive, ensuring that everyone will take something away from the afternoon.
We will focus on:
1) Preparing the body for inversions
2) Injury prevention in handstands
3) Achieving a headstand
4) Mobility in handstand:
5) Handstand specific alignment, including a complete breakdown of the:
- Pelvic alignment
- Thoracic alignment
- Shoulder alignment
- Wrist alignment
- Alignment of the lower body
6) Starting a forearm stand practice:
- Drills to strengthen
- Finding your alignment
This session is ideal if you are looking to expand and further your inversion practice.
